As a result of an unexpected staffing shortage, the Eaton Area Community Center pool will be closed effective 6/6/2025 – 6/8/2025. We understand how important pool access is to our community, and we want to assure you this decision was made purely with your safety in mind.

Over the past week, our administrative staff has personally contacted all available lifeguards and worked to explore every possible option to keep the pool open this weekend. Despite efforts and outreach, we were unable to meet the staffing thresholds required for safe operations.

Here’s what we’re doing to fix it:

·       Hired 3 new lifeguards this week

·       Hosting a lifeguard certification course at the end of June

·       Offering a new incentive program: just $50 to get certified with us, and a full reimbursement after 150 hours of work. Prospective guards also have the option to be certified wherever it is most convenient for them, with full reimbursement available after 150 hours of work. 

·       Preparing for the arrival of our new Aquatics Coordinator who brings years of experience and will start June 23, 2025

We are continuing to pursue innovative recruitment efforts and are doing everything possible to get our Aquatics program back to full strength.
