All lifeguards hired from May 30, 2025-July 31, 2025 who work 150 at the EACC pool will be reimbursed for the full cost of their American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification!
Prospective lifeguards have the option to be certified wherever it is most convenient for them or join our upcoming class June 19-21st at the Eaton Area Community Center for only $50!

Becoming a certified lifeguard has never been more accessible! The Eaton Area Park & Recreation District is proud to offer Red Cross Lifeguard Certification at a significantly reduced cost to help address the nationwide lifeguard shortage.
About the Program:
Typical lifeguard certification courses cost $250-$300, but thanks to our commitment to local aquatics safety, we're offering this course for just $50.
Bonus: Work & Earn It Back!
Successfully complete the course and work at least 150 hours with our aquatics team as a lifeguard, and we'll reimburse your $50 fee, making your certification essentially free.
Course Overview:
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatics emergencies, as well as provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services arrive. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with Deep Water Endorsement.
Pre-Course Requirement:
Before the first day of class, participants must complete approximately 8-10 hours of coursework. A link to the required material will be sent to the email address provided at registration. This work must be completed prior to June 19 in order to participate in the in-person training.
Course Dates & Times:
June 19th, 8am-4pm
June 20th, 8am-5pm
June 21st, 8am-5pm
Meet at the Eaton Area Community Center (EACC)
June 19th: Transportation provided from EACC to Eaton Middle School Pool. Parents/Guardians should plan to pick up at the school pool at 4:00pm.
June 20th & 21st: Regular hours and pickup/drop-off at the Eaton Area Community Center.
What to bring each day:
- Swim Suit
- Towel
- Packed Lunch
Important Prerequisites (Completed on July 19)
All participants must pass the following physical requirements to continue in the course:
- Swim 150 yards continuously
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs
- Complete a timed event retrieving a 10-pound brick from the deep end and swim 20 yards with it in under a 1 minute and 40 seconds
These assessments will be conducted first thing on Day 1. Come ready to go!
