What Level Is Right For My Swimmer?
StarBabies - Ages 3-6 Months with Parent
StarBabies | The StarBabies course introduces infants and toddlers to the water in a fun and nurturing environment, while training parents and caregivers in water safety and drowning prevention. At this stage, no swimming technique or self-rescue skills are taught, as this course mainly focuses on building comfortability and confidence. |

Swim School - Ages 3-6
Swim School helps develop comfortability and safety skills in the water with a focus on self-rescue. Students will work through the programs safety and swimming benchmarks using age-appropriate learning activities. Participants progress through the levels working at their own pace.
White/Red | This level is designed for swimmers who are learning to become comfortable in the water. It includes those who are hesitant to get their face wet or submerge, as well as those who are more comfortable but are still developing their ability float on their front and back. The safety focus centers on asking permission to enter the water and life jacket safety. The swimming focus includes submersion for 3 to 5 seconds, jumping in, and supported floating on both the front and back for the same duration. |

Yellow | This level is for swimmers who are comfortable jumping in and floating on their front and back for 3-5 seconds but cannot tread water for 10 seconds and/or move forward through the water 30 feet without stopping. The safety focus for this level is treading for 10 seconds and the swimming focus is to swim, roll onto back to breathe, and continue swimming the length of the pool. |
Blue/Green | This advanced level of Swim School is designed for swimmers who have mastered basic water safety and are ready to refine their technique and build endurance. Participants work on side breathing and begin developing underwater streamlining and directional control. Swimmers also strengthen overall water competency by practicing jumping in/ submerging, resurfacing, treading for 1 minute (assisted), and swimming 50 yards using coordinated arm and leg movements on the front or back. Safety instruction includes responding to disorienting entries and learning effective reaching assists using flotation devices. |
Stroke School - Ages 5-12
Stroke School is designed for advanced swimmers and focuses on learning and refining stroke techniques. Participants will learn the fundamentals of front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. There is also an emphasis on water safety, exercise, and endurance.
White | This level builds off what was taught in Swim School and focuses on teaching and refining stroke technique for front crawl and backstroke. The safety focus for this level is asking permission before entering the water and the swimming focus is 25 yards of front crawl and backstroke. |

Red | This level teaches swimmers resting strokes including elementary backstroke and side stroke. The safety focus for this level is safety and use of a lifejacket in emergency situations and the swimming focus is 25 yards of elementary backstroke and sidestroke with good technique. |
Yellow/Blue | This level teaches swimmers butterfly and breaststroke. The safety focus in this level is survival float and emergency scenarios and the swimming focus is 25 yards of butterfly and breaststroke with good technique. |
Green | This level teaches swimmers butterfly and breaststroke. The safety focus in this level is survival float and emergency scenarios and the swimming focus is 25 yards of butterfly and breaststroke with good technique. |
