American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification Course

This course provides lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over. The following prerequisites must be passed in order to participate in class; swim 150 yards, 2-minute tread using legs only, and a 50-yard swim continuously. In addition, there is a timed event where participants must retrieve a 10-pound brick from deep end of the pool and swim the brick 20 yards within 1:40 second; The prerequisites will be done as the first thing at the first class. The class is held all three days from 8:00-4:00pm.

Cost: DD $300  |  ND $350

(Reimbursement opportunity available for participants who proceed with employment as a lifeguard at the EAPRD. Completion of class does not guarantee employment.)
